Jaycie Ward to perform at Hillbilly Day

A dynamic young vocalist is one of this year’s headlining acts for the “hillbilly Day” festival in Mountain Rest on July 4.  According to festival official Jody Vissage, 15-year old vocalist Jaycie Ward will perform at the “Hillbilly Day” festival.  Jaycie, who has opened for artists Darius Rucker, Lady Antebellum, Ty Herndon, and Sugarland among others, recorded “Little Red Wagon” which honored fallen firefighters and she performed the song at national and regional venues. The teen sensation won the local “Colgate Country Showdown” sponsored by 96.3 WGOG when she was nine years old. The previous year, when she was eight, she was selected first runner-up. Since that time, she has traveled throughout the country and now includes the acoustic guitar in her performances. Jaycie has also performed at the SC Apple Festival, Oconee’s Heritage Festival, and many other regional festivals. She has also sung the National Anthem at Atlanta’s Turner Field for the Braves baseball games. Her new song is a patriotic song “Hey America” which she will perform at Hillbilly Day.
