Jocassee Shoreline Plan

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has approved Duke Energy’s plan to manage the Lake Jocassee shoreline. The 24-page long order to modify and approve was accepted by FERC on February 4. A spokesperson for Duke Energy anticipates little change to the way the expansive body of water above Lake Keowee will be managed in the future. Based on the shoreline management classification identified by Duke Energy in the proposed Shoreline Management Plan, existing residential use of Lake Jocassee’s shoreline occupies 2 miles or 2.2% of the shoreline, and the Shoreline Management Plan would allow future residential use on an additional 6.4 miles or 7% of shoreline.
