Joint County Industrial and Business Park

To further economic development in the city and county, the Seneca City Council passed second reading of an ordinance to establish the Joint County Industrial and Business Park.  Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander said this partnership between the city and county would help bring more jobs to the area.  “I really do appreciate Oconee County Administrator Scott Moulder, the people in the Economic Development Office and the Oconee County Council because we bought the Propex property, which is actually about 149 acres of land, 49 acres of it actually is where the plant itself sits and it has some surrounding land around it and then the county actually owns 100 acres there.  But, this agreement actually allows us to establish economic development and it helps us create jobs working together through that partnership.” The Joint County Industrial and Business Park sits on land formerly known as the Propex property.  Mayor Alexander said good things are happening on that property and he is excited about the future there.  “We are seeing some good things happen.  I know the Propex property has three tenants in it now and we actually will take part of the building to lease for the new CAT buses.  It will have a terminal there where buses will be stored and serviced some as they come in.” The new all-electric CAT buses being built by Proterra are scheduled to arrive in the City of Seneca next month.
