Joy Moore Big Books Collection Encourages Reading at OCPL’s Westminster Branch

The Westminster Branch of the Oconee County Public Library has added a new collection of children’s over-sized books, thanks to a donation by family and friends of Joy Moore, a Westminster resident who enjoyed reading and visiting the library. The Joy Moore Big Books collection contains the same stories as in regular-sized children’s books, but depict the stories with big pictures and words that can make reading exciting to children.

In other library happenings…

The Salem branch of the Oconee County Public Library will be starting a Recipe Exchange Club on October 1.

Are you looking for new recipes to try out?  Join the Salem Library Recipe Exchange Club.  When you submit your recipes by the 15th of the month, you will receive new recipes by the end of the month. Each month we will have a different category.   For October, you should submit your favorite Thanksgiving side dish recipe.  For November, you should submit your favorite Christmas Cookie recipe.  After November,  the group will decide which categories of recipes they want to submit each month.

“This idea came about as a way that we could still have a program when the library is not having patrons to come in for regular programs,” stated Dan Polk, Salem Branch Manager.

“Patrons will email me a picture of the recipe, the list of ingredients, and the instructions for completing the recipe. All of this can be done remotely online without having to come into the library.”

To sign up for the program, contact Dan Polk at 944-0912.
