Justice John Few Qualified and Nominated for Re-election to South Carolina Supreme Court Seat One

The South Carolina Judicial Merit Selection Commission issued its draft final report deeming Supreme Court Justice John Few, who resides in Mountain Rest, qualified and nominating him to seek re-election to Seat One. Few is one of four candidates vying for the position, with the winner chosen by a joint session of the General Assembly. Candidates are prohibited from seeking or accepting legislative commitments until noon on Monday, February 9. The commission praised Few’s more than 25 years of service across the Circuit Court, Court of Appeals, and Supreme Court, highlighting his high intellect and dedication to the rule of law, while expressing concerns about his temperament on the bench. It accepted his assurance that he will continue balancing his passion with respectful, peaceful dialogue with attorneys.
