Keowee-Toxaway Basin recovers from Drought

The recent rain, along with rising reservoirs, has enabled to the Keowee-Toxaway Low Inflow Protocol to recover to a lower stage, Stage 0 drought, which does not require action. It was proclaimed on Feb. 13. Under Stage 0, residents on Lake Keowee and Lake Jocassee no longer are restricted on water withdrawals for irrigation. However, Duke Energy reminds residents along both lakes of the requirement to return docks to their originally-permitted locations, if those docks were moved to follow the water when the basin was in Stage 2 drought. The Keowee-Toxaway River Basin is a tributary to the Savannah River Basin.
