Kohn inducted into Dixie Boys Baseball HOF

On the final day of this year’s Dixie Boys World Series at the Shaver Recreation Complex in Seneca, an Upstate native was inducted into the Dixie Boys Baseball National Hall of Fame.  The Board of Directors for Dixie Boys Baseball announced on Wednesday that Richard Kohn of Irmo was the newest member of the Dixie Boys Baseball National Hall of Fame.  Seneca Recreation Director Rick Lacey says Kohn is a native of the Upstate.  “He is actually a local boy he was raised up here in Keowee.  His old home place, his mom and dad’s home place is on Keowee Road.”  Kohn started with Dixie Boys Baseball as a District Director in the early 1980’s and in 1986, he became the South Carolina State Director for Dixie Boys Baseball.  In 1991, he became just the second Deputy Commissioner for Dixie Boys Baseball, a position he held for 22 years until his retirement in 2011.
