Lady Cats advance in AAA State Basketball Tournament

With a dramatic, 50-48, win over the Berea Lady Bulldogs in the second round of the AAA State Basketball Tournament, the Seneca Lady Cats survive and advance. Seneca High School Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach Jimmy Towe tells about the win over Berea. “It was a back and fourth game. Two good teams playing. Berea has an unbelievable shooter, she was averaging over 20 points a game and I thought our girls did well. I think playing the schedule that we played this year helped us. I was extremely proud of our young that under a lot of pressure playing on their floor with odds against us, we were down by eight at one point, but our girls just continued to battle and fought. We came down to the end and it was a tie game with under a minute to go and we were fortunate to be able to pull it out. I thought our girls really, really showed a lot of poise in the last minute.” Now the Lady Cats host a cross-county region rival in the Walhalla Lady Razors on Monday night, tells Coach Towe. “Now Walhalla, what an unbelievable job they have done. They went on the road in the first round as a three seed and they upset a two seed. They go on the road in the second round and upset a one seed. Now they will be going on the road to Seneca and we hope that we can match that level of intensity and it be a good game for people to come out and watch and support.” The game tips off at 7pm in Bobcat Gym.
