Lawsuit Against City of Clemson Dismissed

A lawsuit challenging the controversial The Hub Clemson development has been dismissed. In April, Clemson City Council approved rezoning in the Uptown District near Keowee Trail and Wall Street for the project, which will feature 450 student housing units, retail spaces, restaurants, apartments, and townhomes. Concerns about green space loss and increased traffic were raised by some residents. A lawsuit filed in May by an apartment complex owner claimed the city violated its code by approving a development that is 98% residential and only 2% commercial, arguing it doesn’t meet “mixed-use” criteria. The lawsuit was dismissed on July 26.
