Liberty Man charged in Weekend Shooting

The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Liberty man following the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting of his girlfriend. At approximately 8:15pm on Saturday, June 9, the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a shooting that had occurred in a camper located at 102 Bee Tree Court in Liberty. Upon arrival, deputies located an adult female that had been shot at least twice in the legs with a small caliber handgun. Interviews with witnesses at the scene provided deputies with information that confirmed that a male and his girlfriend had been in a verbal dispute for several hours. The argument turned violent when the boyfriend identified as 50-year-old Robert Seaborne Bragg, Jr. presented a handgun and shot the victim while she was seated on a couch inside the camper. No other parties were injured and no children were present when the incident occurred. A .22 caliber revolver was recovered at the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for small caliber gunshot wounds to both legs and later released with non-life threatening injuries. Bragg was not at the scene of the shooting when deputies arrived but was later arrested Sunday night in Laurens County. He was transported back to Pickens County where he is currently detained in the Pickens County Detention Center charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
