Liberty Student diagnosed with Meningitis

School officials in Pickens County notified parents Friday that a Liberty High School student was hospitalized with meningitis. According to a press release from the School District of Pickens County, the district was notified by the parent that their child had been hospitalized.  The coordinator of nursing and the principal worked with DHEC to take the necessary precautions immediately after they learned of the diagnosis.  The Liberty High School custodial staff thoroughly cleaned surfaces and areas Friday morning that the student may have come in contact with at the school. There is no recommendation that any person who has been in contact with this student at school receive any treatment.
