Libraries to take Social Media Leap

Sister station WGOG reports that keen to the latest craze in technology, Oconee County public libraries are set to advance from Facebook to Twitter. After a presentation last night by Westminster Librarian, Leah Price, the county board of library trustees authorized the opening of a Twitter account, as a way to better communicate with its patrons and the world about what is going on at the countywide library system. According to Price, the popularity of Facebook has begun to change or fade but Twitter, with its instant messaging capability, would be ideal for the public libraries to take advantage of on the internet.
