Lockup for Learning Event today

Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw and Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander are among several local community and business leaders, parents, principals and others participating in Lockup for Learning, an event to raise funds for Oconee Christian Academy and Safe Harbor of Oconee County. Today from 9am until 5pm at the parking lot of the O’Reilly Auto Parts location on Highway 123 in Seneca, participants will stand before the “judge” and be charged with their offense.  They may submit their entire bail amount and be “released” or they may spend time in “jail” until their “bail” is raised.  Participants were each given a bail amount of $10,000.  Individuals have spent the past several days raising their “bail” money. All the proceeds raised through this event will benefit Oconee Christian Academy’s Christian Education program with 20% of the total raised being donated as a gift to Safe Harbor. Citizens who are interested in making a donation can do so by calling Oconee Christian Academy at 882-6925 to make pledges on the bail that is owed.
