Man Arrested After Twenty Year Long Investigation
Oconee County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a man in connection with an investigation that goes back to twenty years ago. Now aged 52, Bryan Allen Lanier is charged with first degree burglary, breach of trust with fraudulent intent, petit larceny, malicious injury to property, and avoiding payment for telecommunications. According to arrest warrants, in April of 2000, Lanier is accused of breaking into a Salem residence after dismantling the home’s security system. He is then alleged to have made a long-distance phone call before he stole a 1997 Jeep from a dealership and drove it to Delaware. he is further accused of returning to the same residence in Salem and stealing less than $1,000 worth of property in June of 2000. He remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center with a combined bond amount of more than $41,000.
