Man killed in West Union accident

A West Union man died from injuries he sustained in an accident Friday afternoon.  Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis reports that 42-year-old Jackey Lee Moore of Hidden Springs Farm Drive, near West Union was found pinned beneath his truck.  Oconee County Dispatchers received a 911 call at 5:38pm Friday.  Moore was pronounced dead at the scene.  His wife, teenage daughters, and a couple of children who were being baby-sat were inside the residence.  The mother who arrived at the residence to pick up her children discovered his body.  Investigators believe Moore was working on his 1996 Ford F-150 pickup truck.  It appears he was beneath the vehicle when it rolled down the driveway pinning him beneath it and the ground.  An autopsy was performed Sunday morning and it showed Moore died as a result of traumatic asphyxiation.  The Oconee County Coroner’s Office and the Oconee County Sheriff’s Department are investigating this incident.  The vehicle was impounded and the Sheriff’s Department has arranged for a vehicle technician to inspect the vehicle to determine how it may have moved.
