Man sentenced for Kidnapping and Criminal Sexual Conduct

Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor Walt Wilkins states that 25-year-old Demetria Karzarieas Larico Anderson pled guilty this week to kidnapping and criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, and was sentenced to 24 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections. Evidence presented at the plea hearing established that on Sept. 17, 2017, Anderson kidnapped the victim as she was getting out of her car to go to work at the Days Inn in Mauldin. Anderson forced the victim into the passenger seat of her own car at gunpoint. Anderson got into the victim’s car and drove her to an athletic field behind a nearby church where he then raped and assaulted her multiple times. The defendant then brought the victim back to Mauldin where she was ultimately able to escape and call 911. DNA evidence found at the incident location linked Anderson to the crime, and the victim worked with law enforcement to produce a sketch of the perpetrator that eventually led to Anderson’s arrest.
