Man sentenced for Voluntary Manslaughter

Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor Walt Wilkins states that 32-year-old Greco Lataurus Williams pled guilty today to voluntary manslaughter, and was sentenced to 30 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections by the Honorable Robin B. Stilwell. Williams will have to serve at least 85% of the 30 year sentence before he becomes eligible for parole. Evidence presented at the plea hearing by Assistant Solicitor Walker Miller established that on May 5, 2017, Williams had a confrontation with the victim at 11 Kerns Avenue. While the victim was walking away, Williams fired five shots from a 9mm handgun, each shot striking the victim in the back. The victim died as a result of the gun shot wounds. The case was investigated by Sgt. Ricky Motes, Investigator Jonathan Howard, and former Investigator Randy Evett of the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office. “Thanks to the tireless efforts of the Sheriff’s Office investigators in this case, we were able to secure justice for the victim’s family,” said Solicitor Wilkins.
