Man sentenced on Murder and Other Felony Charges

Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor Walt Wilkins announces that 21-year-old Dmarrion Jaquay Gilmore pled guilty this week to murder, attempted murder, kidnapping and armed robbery. Gilmore was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole by the Honorable Roger Couch on the murder charge, and 30 years each on the remaining charges. Evidence presented at the plea hearing by Assistant Solicitor Sylvia Harrison and Assistant Solicitor Jenna Hendricks established that on June 25, 2016, Gilmore wrecked his car just outside the 418 Dance Barn in Pelzer. James Reeves and his friend Jeff Walker went to help Gilmore when they saw his car had caught fire. When Gilmore exited the vehicle, he asked that no one call the police because he had outstanding warrants for his arrest. After Gilmore found out that law enforcement had been notified, he went back to his burning vehicle and returned with a gun. Gilmore forced Reeves and Walker at gun point into the Dance Barn and robbed them of a set of car keys. Shortly thereafter, when Gilmore could not get a vehicle to start with the stolen keys, he went back to the Dance Barn in a rage and shot into the Dance Barn at Reeves and Walker. The owner of the Dance Barn, Terry Lollis, lived next door and rode on his ATV over to the Dance Barn to see what was happening. At that time, the Gilmore accosted Lollis and tried to steal his ATV. As Lollis tried to escape, Gilmore shot him four times in the back. Lollis later died of his wounds at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
