Masks on in Clemson or Face a Fine

As of Thursday, June 25th, a temporary emergency ordinance is in place in the City of Clemson to require the wearing of face coverings in public places to reduce the risk of transmission of the COVID-19 virus. City Council voted to enact the ordinance after elevated levels of the virus were detected in samplings from the city waste water treatment facilities. The ordinance will be effective for 60 days. Businesses in violation will be fined $100 and individuals will be fined $25. The City of Clemson will be providing masks for businesses located in city limits. Masks can be picked up at the City Complex at 1250 Tiger Boulevard on Monday, June 29th, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Quantities will be limited to a maximum of 100 / business. In addition, the city will be providing a standardized placard which businesses can download and print for prominent display at the entrance to their property. Additional signage is planned throughout the city to ensure that visitors and residents are aware of the new ordinance before arriving to an establishment without being prepared.
