Mayor excited about Football’s impact on Economy

After a rainy summer, Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander is hopeful that tourism will pick up this fall with the start of college football.  On Saturday, the Clemson Tigers kick off the 2013 season by hosting the Georgia Bulldogs at Memorial Stadium.  Mayor Alexander expects to see many people and is optimistic about the impact it will have on the local economy.  “A tremendous amount of people are going to be here this weekend for the Georgia versus Clemson game.  Everywhere you go that is all I hear people talking about, you know the hype of that game, the amount of people coming, the stadium is going to be full and that is great for the economy.  If Clemson, Seneca, or anybody that is around that stadium is going to have lots of business this weekend.  I know the hotels are filled everywhere and most people are staying several days.” With the Labor Day Holiday on Monday, college football fans are anticipated to spend their last summer vacations here in the Upstate.
