Minor Leaguer with Upstate Ties hits 3 Homeruns in Game

A Minor League baseball player with Upstate ties recently hit three homeruns in a single game. Michael Gettys, an allstar centerfielder for the Lake Elsinore, CA Storm (San Diego Padres organization), hit three homeruns in a single game on Friday, June 2, against San Jose, CA (San Francisco Giants organization). He leads his team in homeruns and doubles, and the speedster leads the California League in stolen bases. Gettys, also a football and basketball teammate of Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson at Gainesville (GA) High School, was drafted by the Padres following his senior year in 2014. He is the son of Mark and Stacy Gettys, formerly of Seneca, and is the grandson of Wayne and Donna Morton of Westminster.
