More Time for Walhalla Hotel Developers

The Oconee County Council gave a time extension for developers to clear more government hurdles in their quest to rebuild the former county courthouse into a hotel in downtown Walhalla, reports sister station WGOG. After comments by builder Tom Markovich Tuesday night, the Oconee County Council approved an addendum to the Historic Oconee County Courthouse Project. Markovich told the council he and his partner are close to their final approval from the office of State Historic Preservation. From there, the paperwork goes to the National Park Service as developers are hoping to qualify for tax credits.
