Multiple Agencies Respond To Reports Of Injured Woman At Blue Hole Falls

(Seneca, SC)———Over the weekend, Oconee County first responders were alerted to reports shortly before 3pm Saturday that a female had fallen from the Blue Hole Falls in Northern Oconee County .

After being notified, crews arrived on scene and hiked into the remote location to begin treatment.

According to Oconee Fire Chief Charlie King, the individual was found to have fallen 50 to 60 feet down the waterfall and was found at the bottom suffering with a significant injury.

Chief King says that crews worked for more than two hours to build multiple rope systems to evacuate the injured woman from the falls.

After the evacuation, the woman was transported via helicopter to Greenville Hospital for care.

Chief King said that just under forty personnel from multiple agencies in Oconee County assisted in the response.  Besides Oconee County Emergency Services, the assisting agencies were Mountain Rest Fire and Mountain Rest Rescue, Longcreek Fire, Walhalla Fire, Oconee Special Rescue, the U.S. Forest Service and Prisma Health Emergency Medical Services.
