Municipal Election Day: Polls Open From 7am to 7pm Today

Today, November 4, 2025, is Municipal Election Day in Oconee County, South Carolina, putting Seneca voters in the spotlight as they elect key city leaders amid the area’s booming lakefront economy and infrastructure needs along Sandifer Boulevard.

In Seneca’s nonpartisan races, incumbent Mayor Dan Alexander is shifting to a city council bid, facing competition from challengers including conservative Kenneth Eckerson and Kathy St. John, while current Mayor Pro Tem Ronnie O’Kelley vies for the mayor’s seat. Incumbent council members Dana Moore, Lakeisha Benson, and E. Riley seek reelection against the field, with priorities spanning public safety enhancements, Lake Keowee recreation expansions, and sustainable zoning for growth.

The Oconee Republican Party has notably endorsed Alexander, Moore, and Eckerson in these Seneca contests, marking a historic push in local nonpartisan politics.

In neighboring races, the party backed David Underwood, Chris Grant, and Ron Winchester for Walhalla council seats, and Jamie Jones, Charles Morgan, and Susan Ramey for Westminster.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; photo ID required; head to scVOTES.gov for your sample ballot and polling site.
