Murder-Suicide Saturday in Seneca

At 7:40am on Saturday morning, a 911 call was received by Oconee County dispatch reporting two people were lying on the ground outside their home on Steve Nix Road in Seneca.  First arriving deputies and EMS found both subjects deceased. The preliminary investigation indicates this scene is consistent as a murder – suicide. The female victim was identified as 58-year-old Gwendolyn Hiott and the male victim was identified as 50-year-old James Wesley Foxx.  Both subjects resided at the incident location; they were not married but were in a relationship.  A post mortem exam conducted Sunday morning on Foxx, confirmed he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head; his manner of death is classified as a suicide. An autopsy conducted on Hiott, found she sustained two gunshot injuries which resulted in vascular trauma; both gunshot injuries were fatal.  She sustained a gunshot injury to her chest and a gunshot injury to the left side of her neck.  Her manner of death is classified as a homicide.  The post mortem exam and autopsy was performed at the AnMed Medical Center.
