National Gas Prices steady at Highest of the Year

Nationally at $2.66, gas prices are just one penny away from topping the $2.67 high of 2017. Locally, prices continue to be the highest Carolinians have seen all year. North Carolina’s state average hit $2.55, a one cent jump on the week and a 15 cent jump on the month. South Carolina’s average is $2.43, a one cent decrease on the week but still a 16 cent increase on the month. South Carolina’s large spike continues to make it one of the top ten largest yearly increases across the nation, up 32 cents on the year. “Carolinians are continuing to pay more at the pump across both states,” said AAA Carolinas spokesperson Tiffany Wright. “We do expect these prices to continue to increase, though it will hopefully only be mild.” Motorists can find current gas prices along their route with the free AAA Mobile app for iPhone, iPad and Android. The app can also be used to map a route, find discounts, book a hotel and access AAA roadside assistance. Learn more at AAA.com/mobile.
