New Cell Tower in Mountain Rest Given Green Light

A special exception was granted for a 250 foot cell tower in rural Oconee County. The Oconee County regulatory board voted 4-1 to permit the tower to be built on private property in the area of Highways 107 and 28 in order to provide better coverage in pockets of dead cell service.

In their consideration, board members tried to find a balance between the need of providing 21st century communications technology with the need to maintain an aesthetically pleasing area.
