New Charging Stations installed in Seneca

New electric charging stations are in place on Railroad Street in downtown Seneca and at Oconee Medical Center for the all-electric CAT buses, which are anticipated to arrive next month.  Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander said he is pleased to see it all starting to come together.  “Finally seeing it come to together is pretty neat but last week they put up the polls that hold the charging unit.  Yesterday they were installing the charging units on the polls and everything went together very nicely.  We are real excited about that getting closer.  December is our target date for the new buses to roll in here, so that is going to be pretty neat.” Mayor Alexander said the city is planning a big celebration in order to thank the many people and agencies responsible for bringing the first all-electric, fare free, public transit system to Seneca.  “It wasn’t just us that put this together, a tremendous amount of people that have worked from the state level to the federal level, from the transit to the DOT, there are just numerous people that we are planning on having a day set aside to actually recognize several people that have helped bring this project together.” Once the new all-electric buses from Proterra arrive, Mayor Alexander anticipates a week or two of trial runs through the city.
