New Executive Director Of Oconee Economic Alliance Discusses What makes Oconee County Attractive to business and industry

(Seneca, SC)—The new Executive Director for the Oconee Economic Alliance was introduced to those in attendance at last week’s Board of Director’s meeting.

Annie Caggiano is tentatively scheduled to begin her new duties on November 1st and will succeed Janet Hartman in the Executive Director’s role.

After last week’s meeting, Caggiano discussed what makes Oconee County attractive to potential business and industry.

Caggiano said that what makes Oconee County attractive is the County proximity to I-85 and having an original equipment manufacturer in the Upstate like BMW.

Caggiano also discussed having a traditional metal working community and manufacturing community that Caggiano says are very much like European areas is a great attraction point.

Caggiano says that even though Clemson University is in Pickens County, many areas are not close to a Tier One research university that produces well-educated students like Oconee County is and that can help to produce great assets that companies are looking for. And that could help to attract new types of companies to the County, according to Caggiano, such as consulting companies and more white collar type jobs, which can help diversify the economy with the manufacturing base already here.
