New Poll shows Colbert Busch leading
A new poll of likely voters in South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District shows political newcomer, Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch ahead of former Republican governor Mark Sanford by nine points, with the election two weeks away. Clemson University Political Science professor Dr. Joseph Stewart feels the race is still too close to call. “It looks like a close race. The polls that I have seen early indicate that it is a dead heat that the numbers are within margin of error. I said before the race began that any Republican could deliver that race to the Democrats it would be Mark Sanford and he seems to be trying to do that. I mean he won the primary in a runoff but it wasn’t surprising there was a runoff because there were 13 Republicans in the race, so the odds are against winning that the first time around.” Public Policy Polling out of Raleigh, NC conducted the pre-election survey of 796 likely voters on April 19-21. The two will face off at The Citadel on April 29 at 7pm in a debate.
