New Warming Shelter Opens in Seneca

A new warming shelter has opened at the Seneca Church of God of Prophecy, located at 1016 Overbrook Drive, Seneca, SC 29678, to provide refuge from the cold for men, women, and children; it is staffed by the Department of Social Services and the American Red Cross until closure, with no drugs, alcohol, or weapons permitted on the premises. Individuals with pets may bring them for registration and temporary placement at a secure location, and owners can later contact the Animal Shelter for reunification upon returning home. The two temporary warming shelters previously operated during the winter weather event from January 25–27, 2026, have now closed, and all clients from those locations have been transported to this new facility, according to Oconee County government.
