New Year’s Day arrest on Drug Charges
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westminster man on New Year’s Day on drug charges. Responding to a domestic disturbance call, deputies asked 30-year-old Joseph Augustus Stone about the reports that he had a handgun and he told deputies he did not have one. He gave consent to search the vehicle and the premise. Upon searching the vehicle, deputies discovered a prescription bottle that contained a substance officers believed was methamphetamine, plus 10 blank doctor’s prescription sheets, which were from Piedmont Comprehensive Pain Management Group, LLC. The subject said he was keeping the prescription sheets for a friend. Stone was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on the charges of possession of meth and possession of the blank prescription sheets on New Year’s Day. He was released on $12,000 bond.
