No Fireworks allowed in OC Parks

For obvious reasons, fireworks are not allowed in the three public parks of Oconee County, explains Phil Shirley, Director of Oconee County Parks, Recreation and Tourism. “We do not allow fireworks to be shot off by campers. We would love for you to come out and watch the fireworks that are being shot by professionals at different locations. Seneca contracts with a professional for their show and the Lake Keowee Marina also does fireworks that evening. So, all the water space there in front of South Cove Park where you can look over the water plant to see Seneca’s and you can also look to your left and see the ones going on at Lake Keowee Marina. But we don’t allow them in our parks; there are a lot of campers and a lot of vehicles and it is not a safe environment. But we do encourage people to come out and watch.” Once again for everyone’s safety, leave fireworks displays to trained professionals.
