No Highway Fatalities Reported

Good news to report from the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, no traffic fatalities occurred on state roads and highways from Friday, January 25, at 6pm until Sunday, January 27, at midnight. As of January 27, 37 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 63 highway deaths in this same time period in 2012.  Oconee County has yet to have a highway fatality in 2013 compared to two in 2012.  Pickens County lists four in 2013 compared to one in 2012.  Anderson County also has yet to experience a highway fatality in 2013 compared to six in 2012 at this same time.  Of the 22 motor vehicle occupants who have died statewide in 2013, 14 were not wearing seat belts. Through midnight January 27, 10 pedestrians, 3 motorcyclists and 1 bicyclist have died on state roads and highways. These numbers are preliminary and are based on fatal collisions compiled by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety as of midnight January 27, 2013.
