No Notice Given In Westminster for Late Utility Bills

Westminster’s Mayor Brian Ramey said that at the next city council meeting in August, he plans to address the issue of utility cut off notices after 96 year-old former Westminster Mayor Cecil Sandifer’s power was recently cut off for non-payment. Sandifer’s failing eyesight reportedly caused him to send less than the amount due when he paid his bill, and no one apparently bothered to let him know. At issue is the fact that no cut-off notices are being sent to Westminster’s utility customers, only one bill with a due date on it. Mayor Ramey said that he will bring the matter before the city council when they meet again on August 11 to discuss alternatives to disconnection before vulnerable customers are affected.
