NRC places Duke Energy on Notice

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has placed Duke Energy on official notice of what the government watchdog agency considers an apparent violation of the power company’s failure to achieve enhanced fire protection measures at Oconee Nuclear Station, just outside Seneca.  The apparent violation is being considered for escalated enforcement action in accordance with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Enforcement Policy. A civil penalty is possible.  Duke Energy now must ask a meeting to discuss the apparent violation or provide a written response within 30 days to the NRC.
