OC Council calls Special Meeting

The Oconee County Council will hold a Special Meeting on Thursday, March 29, at 6:30pm or immediately following the Special Workshop Meeting with the Planning Commission for the purpose of entering into Executive Session to receive legal advice related to an economic development matter, which is entitled Project Omega. That project has been revealed as a proposal for the county to buy The Journal’s printing building on South Highway 11 and make available property for a replacement newspaper printing plant building in the nearby Oconee County Information and Technology Park. The county has been offered an $800,000 grant to buy the existing printing plant building and convert it into a spec building to attract other development. The meetings is open to the public and takes place in Council Chambers of the Oconee County Administrative Offices at 415 South Pine Street in Walhalla.
