OC Council preparing for Tax Increase

At their monthly meeting Tuesday night, the Oconee County Council approved a tax increase to meet additional requests in the county’s new budget. An estimated 1.38 tax mills will be required to fund an additional fire truck, a new Magistrate’s Office in Westminster, and satisfy ADA requirements at High Fall Park. In addition more school resource officers and a full-time deputy coroner, this year’s property tax increase will likely total a little more than two mills. The Oconee County Council will hold public hearings on the proposed Fiscal Year 2018-19 Budget on June 5, and June 19.
