OC Council to hold Strategic Planning Retreat

The Oconee County Council will hold a strategic planning retreat next month to discuss the short term and long-term goals for the county.  Oconee County Councilman Paul Corbeil stated these goals heading into the retreat next month. “First and foremost it remains job creation and the other side of that which is workforce development.  We can have a strong influence on it and we need to have that.  At the same time, we are also responsible for making sure that we address public safety issues.  With Mike Crenshaw, the new Sheriff, I am very anxious to have him come to Council some evening and make a presentation on what he sees as new opportunities or expanded opportunities.  Of course we are talking about quality of life issues and I will put the Library System in that, we need to figure out how to address the need for a new branch library in Seneca and in addition to that upgrades to the other existing libraries.  So, we have our challenges, but again we are not afraid to address them and recognize what they are and then County Administrator Scott Moulder does an excellent job of putting fourth alternatives to solve those challenges and we will take it from there with the public’s support.” The public is invited to the Oconee County Council’s strategic planning retreat on February 7 beginning at 9am in the Council Chambers of the Oconee County Administrative Offices on South Pine Street in Walhalla.  However, an opportunity for public comment will not be offered at this meeting.
