OC Deputies makes arrest in Stolen Boat Dock case

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested an individual on two counts in the case of a stolen boat dock from back in July. According to investigators, a Fair Play man notified the Sheriff’s Office back on July 16th about concerns that the boat dock that he had purchased off Craig’s List may have been stolen. According to the incident report, the suspect sent the complainant the address so they could look at the dock.  They informed the suspect that they would purchase the dock for $4,000 in cash and that he would deliver and set up the dock.  The dock was delivered on July 16th and the suspect said he would be back on July 19th to set it up, but he never returned.  After getting in touch with the Army Corp of Engineers to run the dock number, deputies were able to get in touch with an individual in Hendersonville, North Carolina who stated that his boat dock was missing.  As the investigation continued, warrants were issued on September 9th for 37-year-old Richard Kent Adomat of Flowery Branch, Georgia, on charges of grand larceny and obtaining property under false pretenses.  Adomat was arrested and booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on December 13th.  He was released on a $20,000 personal recognizance bond.
