OC EMS opening Warming Shelter

Oconee County Emergency Services is opening a warming shelter at Saint Marks Methodist Church in Seneca, explains Chief Scott Krein, director of Emergency Management for Oconee County.  “We’ve opened a warming shelter at Saint Marks Methodist Church, located at 616 Quincy Road in downtown Seneca.  We are encouraging anyone that needs to get out of the elements that does not have power or just needs to be somewhere that is warm to come and seek shelter.  Just remember to limit your time outside in the cold.” Chief Krein says bundle up if you have to go outside in the frigid temperatures.  “It is extremely cold for this time and we need to remember to cover up any exposed skin that is possible to cover up.  In addition, limit the amount of time outside because with the wind chill factor within thirty minutes, we can see light frostbite and those type things that can do skin damage.”  Anyone needing to get in out of the elements is welcome to come by the Oconee County Emergency Services’ warming shelter at Saint Marks Methodist Church on Quincy Road in Seneca.
