OC Man convicted on Drug Charge

A jury convicted an Oconee County man on Wednesday, despite the fact that he was absent from court.  Tenth Circuit Solicitor Chrissy Adams announces that 40-year-old Kenneth Whitworth was found guilty of distribution of methamphetamine. Judge Alex Macaulay issued a bench warrant for Whitworth and sealed the sentence pursuant to the law.  Whitworth was arrested Feb. 18, 2011, after an informant with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office purchased a quantity of methamphetamine from him at his home. The transaction was recorded on both audio and video tape.  Whitworth was arrested by deputies with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday and will be sentenced today. He has a prior criminal history, including two drug charges, which date back to 1989.
