OC promoting 150 Things To Do

In conjunction with Oconee County’s 150th birthday celebration, the Oconee County Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department has released 150 Things To Do, explains Director Phil Shirley. “The 150 Things To Do brochure was really cool putting together. We’ve got brochures that we’re handing out, we are rolling tonight at the Sesquicentennial proclamation kickoff. We have those brochures available at Pine Street as well as South Cove County Park and then every time we set up a booth to celebrate the birthday we will have those available. It is a challenge, we want families to get out and see if they can do as many as of those items as they can through 2018.” Oconee is a Cherokee word meaning “land beside the water”, which is a fitting name for a place blessed with multiple lakes, rivers, streams and over 150 waterfalls.
