OC Residents encouraged to take Transit Survey

Oconee County wants to know if residents would like to see public transportation extended. The City of Seneca has ordered two new all-electric CAT buses with the idea of expanding fare free service beyond the city to other parts of the county. The Oconee County Public Library (OCPL) is also encouraging residents to take a survey, explains OCPL Director Blair Hinson. “The library has been participating with a group in Walhalla that is trying to get public transportation, get the buses to come to Walhalla. The library has this on our website, but we would like everyone to go and take a survey, its in English and Spanish. Go to www.oconeesc.com/transportation and the link will be on our website, www.oconeelibrary.org, as well. This survey will gauge interest in getting the electric bus system to come to Walhalla, our county seat, which would actually be very beneficial for people that need to get there to pay their taxes, need to get up there and have a stop at the library like we do at our Seneca Branch. So, this is a chance to give input on that.” The six-question survey will close on Sept. 15, so if you are interested in giving input on expanding fare free public transit to Walhalla, take the survey today.
