OC Sheriff announces Open House at New Substation in Salem

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is inviting the public to an open house that will showcase a brand new Sheriff’s Office substation in Salem. This substation is the result of an agreement with the Keowee Fire Tax District Commission allowing the Sheriff’s Office to use some building space located at 115 Maintenance Road. The open house will take place this Sunday, July 23, 2017, from 2-4pm. The Salem substation will be located right next to the Keowee Fire Department on Highway 130. This new substation will be in addition to the two other Sheriff’s Office substations which are located in Seneca beside the Coroner’s office on the campus of Oconee Memorial Hospital and in Longcreek on Highway 76 next to the Longcreek General Store. “This new substation will allow our deputies to patrol the Salem area more frequently because they can use this substation to file reports due to broadband internet access and stay in those assigned areas, which allows for better response times,” says Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw. “The substation won’t be fully staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, however, citizens in the Salem area can make arrangements to meet deputies there by contacting our communications center at 864-638-4111. I want to personally invite all Salem area residents to attend this Open House. Those citizens will have an opportunity to meet the deputies that are assigned to the Salem area, plus, they will have a chance to see one of our Marine Units as well. These substations continue our goal of building partnerships to promote a safer community, which is our vision statement at the Sheriff’s Office,” says Sheriff Crenshaw.
