OC Sheriff makes Arrest in Early Morning Shooting

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest in a shooting early Saturday morning near Westminster.  According to investigators, deputies responded to a call of shots being fired on Hobson Street just before 5:30am.  Officers with the Westminster Police Department also responded.  When deputies arrived on scene, they found a man lying on his back with guns and shotgun shells nearby.  Deputies arrested 63-year-old James Lincoln Webb of Westminster.  Investigators report that there had been drinking and that an argument concerning property and funeral expenses irrupted. Webb, the father-in-law of a person at the scene, left after becoming agitated and when he returned, he started shooting at the dwelling with people inside.  Investigators report that there were eight occupants inside. No injuries were reported.  Webb was charged with eight counts of attempted murder.  He was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center in Walhalla and the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation into the case.
