OC Sheriff releases 2017 Summary

Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw releases the annual report to the citizens concerning crime and law enforcement activities for 2017. The Emergency Communications or E-911 Division received 88,087 calls for service in 2017. Investigators worked three homicides and ten attempted murders. In addition, there were 20 death investigations, 17 robberies, 26 aggravated assaults, 10 arsons, 459 burglaries, 355 shopliftings, 253 grand larcenies, 61 motor vehicle thefts, 63 forgeries, 153 financial crimes, 223 vandalisms, 15 adult sexual assaults, 205 domestic violence cases, 163 crimes against children, and 3 crimes against vulnerable adults. In 2017, three Crimestoppers tips led to arrests and the Crimestoppers Board paid out $450 in reward money. In addition, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office collected 233 pounds of prescription pills as part of its takeback program.
