OC Sheriff’s Office arrests Michigan Man on Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor Charges

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested a Lansing, Michigan man on two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the first degree. 41-year-old Brian Keith Collins of Balzer Street in Lansing, MI was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center by a deputy from the Warrants Division after being extradited from Michigan to South Carolina. Collins was charged in incidents in which the victim was under the age of 11-years-old when the sexual assaults occurred. A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division responded to the Seneca Police Department during the evening hours of Feb. 25, 2018, in regards to reports of a sexual assault that occurred several years ago but was first reported to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 25. The deputy spoke with a family member of the victim and started an investigation which was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division of the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office. As the investigation continued and evidence was gathered in the case, it was determined that Collins had sexually assaulted the victim, the only current victim in the investigation, between 2007 and 2008 and again in 2011. The investigator in the case obtained the arrest warrants against Collins and spoke with the Lansing Police Department on Feb. 27, after the arrest warrants were obtained and authorities there located Collins and took him into custody. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
