OC Sheriff’s Office arrests NC Woman on Drug Trafficking Charge

On Sunday, June 17, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Franklin, North Carolina woman on a charge of trafficking in methamphetamine after a pursuit. Booked into the Oconee County Detention Center was 26-year-old Sally Louise English. She was also charged with failure to stop for a blue light in relation to the pursuit. A deputy on routine patrol on Chattooga Ridge Road observed a white van heading towards him in his lane of travel. Prior to this, deputies were notified of a white Ford Transit van that was involved in an earlier pursuit in Rabun County, Georgia. The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the van near the intersection of Chattooga Ridge Road and Whetstone Road near Mountain Rest. However, the van would not stop and a pursuit began that eventually ended on Highlands Highway as the vehicle was heading towards the Georgia and South Carolina line. The deputy was able to place the driver, English, into custody and began the process of inventorying the vehicle in the pursuit. While involved in that process, the deputy discovered a back pack inside of the vehicle which contained a case that had a quantity of methamphetamine inside. English was then transported to the Oconee County Detention Center. At this time, English remains in custody on a combined $45,000 surety bond. A hold has been placed on English by the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office.
