OC Sheriff’s Office arrests Seneca Man on Weapon and Drug Charges

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Seneca man late last week on weapon and drug charges, explains Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt. “18-year-old Christopher Alex Seymore of Gail Court was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 12:59am Friday. A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division on routine patrol late last Thursday evening observed a vehicle traveling on Blue Ridge Boulevard in the Seneca area with only one functioning headlight. After discovering the tag on the vehicle was supposed to be displayed on another vehicle, the deputy initiated a traffic stop on the white Honda Pilot. Inside the vehicle were two occupants, a female driver and a male passenger, identified as Seymore. A check of Seymore’s name revealed that he had active arrest warrants from the Sheriff’s Office as well as the Seneca Police Department, whereupon he was placed under arrest. After the driver gave the deputy consent to search the vehicle, the deputy discovered a handgun in an area where Seymore was sitting. A check of the weapon revealed that the firearm had been entered as stolen in the National Crimes Information Center database. Also, ammunition and magazines were located where Seymore was sitting as well. Seymore also does not possess a concealed weapons permit. The driver was issued a citation for improper display of a license plate and was released from the scene while Seymore was placed under arrest and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center where he was served with the drug arrest warrants and was placed on a Temporary Custody Order until warrants were obtained charging Seymore with two counts of unlawful carrying of a pistol with one of those charges related to the stolen pistol. The drug warrant from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office against Seymore was part of the seventeenth Operation Infinity drug sweep round up that began on Aug. 31. The arrest warrant from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office charges Seymore with distribution of cocaine. Seymore’s arrest brings to the total number of arrests to 21 in regards to seventeenth Operation Infinity drug sweep.”
At this time, Seymore remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center on a combined $24,250 surety bond on the three charges. Seymore was also given a $10,000 personal recognizance bond on the charge from the Seneca Police Department.
